American
Holidays
America,
since it is a country of free religion has many holidays celebrated
throughout the year. Certain Americans only celebrate some holidays
while the entire country, nationwide, celebrates others. One
example of a holiday enjoyed by the whole country is Thanksgiving,
the day we put on the calendar as the day we say thanks for the
many blessings we have. This holiday began with the feast the
pilgrims and Indians had together to give thanks. Another holiday
that is celebrated by all Americans is the Fourth of July. This
is the day we celebrate our independence. This day is traditionally
one filled with fireworks, barbeques, parades and patriotic celebration.
This holiday commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Some holidays only celebrated by people in our country because
of their beliefs are Ramadan, Yom Kippur and Christmas. Other
holidays are celebrated by all Americans, though they have certain
religious roots, such as Saint Valentines Day and Saint Patricks
Day. The holidays of America are very diverse.
