The  Chernobyl Accident

On April 25th - 26th the nuclear power plant the Chernobyl exploded. 135,000 people had to evacuated. The Chernobyl  is a  power plant located 80 miles north of Kiev. At 1:23 a.m. the chain reaction in the reactor became out of control, and blew off the reactor's heavy steel and concrete lid ,which happens when the fuel rods in the reactor melt. The melt down was prevented by pouring sand and concrete into the reactor to seal it. The experiment was not on porpose. It was a major accident. The Chernobyl accident killed 30 people!
Also at 1:23 when the chain in the reactor became out of control it made a fireball witch blew up!!
4 reactors and reactor #4 numerous safety  procedures were disregarded.

The picture to the left is The Chernobyl after the accident. The  Chernobyl shows us how powerless we can be against the hazard of radioactivity. The Chernobyl generated electricity for millions of in Ukraine.
After the accident many countries began testing animals like farm animals for radioativity. Animals that fed on grass and plants have a high radioactive levels. That meant their meat was bad for the people to eat and the cows milk was bad even for their young. The farmland and crops were ruined. After the accident people stared dying from cancer. 30,000 (thirty thousand) people in Russia. There is also a possibility that it will increase in the number of births.
