Soccer was founded in Japan around 1004 B.C. Since then soccer has become popular all over the world.  Some soccer shoes have interchangable studs.  Different studs can be put on the shoe for different field or weather conditions.
                                           

                               Basketball                                                Basketball was invented by James Naismith in 1819. Professinal basketball players play in the NBA (National Basketball Association).  Ankle padding is important for support while playing the game or practicing.  Converse and Nike are popular basktball shoe brands.
                             

                                        Baseball
      Alexander Cartwright in 1891 invented baseball which became America's favorite pastime.  Baseballshoes have toe and heel plates that screw to the sole of the shoe.  Spikes would cause injury to another player, therefore they are not allowed.
                               

                                      Athletics
        Running and field events became popular in Ancient        Greece, when they ran barefoot.  Running shoes should be comfortable and give support.  Track shoes have spikes and are light weight so that they are easier to run in.
                               

                                                    Boxing
Boxing shoes have a thin sole and are light weight.  They also have no heel so that boxers do not fall during a match and to help them move swiftly
.  Boxing shoes are also tall to support the ankles.
