Just before New Years in 1906 the Atlantic Station was made consisting of  Battleships,Cruisers,and Destroyers.When WWII began in 1939 the U.S. tryed to remain neutral,while protecting its shipping.It was at this time that they renamed the force to the Patrol Force which was made up into the Battleships, P.F.;Cruisers,P.F;Destroyers,P.F.and,the Train,P.F.But the Patrol Force was short lived.

Some say the first battleship was the USS  Monitor because it had Battleship qualities.Others might say the USS Michigan was the first Battleship which was commissioned on Sept. 29,1844.The U.S. commissioned it's first Battleship the USS Texas,on Apr.15,1895.In 1907 Battleships began to grow with the USS Kansas which weighed twice as much as the USS Texas and hade more armor.It also hade 42 officers and 838 enlisted men.


The first battleship Type Command {TYCom}was on Nov.1,1940 formed the Battleships U.S. Atlantic Fleet.On Dec.7,1941 the Navy lost 8 ships but they repaired 6 of them and put them back in service.On Nov.15,1945 just 2 months after the Japanese surrendered the battleships and the cruisers made a new TYCom and it was called the Battleship-Cruiser Force,U.S. Atlantic Fleet.The USS New Jersey was recommissioned in 1968 but then agian decommissioned in1969 but agian it was recommissioned in 1982 and  it was modernized with 16 Harpoon missiles and  32 Tomahawk missiles.The last battleship on active duty was the USS Missouri and  it  was decommissioned on Mar.31,1992 and  now you will not see a battleship in the U.S. Navy.
