Preventing AIDS is a global issue and a matter that affects every human in one
way or the other, it's seeming clearer now that mankind has to put and end to
AIDS before AIDS puts and end to mankind!, now the ultimate question someone
might be asking is how can man stop AIDS since it's incurable, this is very
simple, simply avoid and prevent AIDS. If AIDS is being adequately prevented it
will come to a time when the cases of AIDS will be very little and we can have
to divert money Used for expensive treatments for something better.
There are different methods to prevent AIDS based on the target audience,
however of all audience some form of co-operation is required on the part of the
audience adequately prevent it.
PREVENTING AIDS AMONG CHILDREN AND BABIES
To achieve success in this prevention, a campaign or action should be
strategies and targeted at infected mothers and adult women, because this
group can only get the disease from their mothers during or after
pregnancy. Some sought of enlightenment or education could also be of
great assistance in such situation because it will help teach such mothers
on how to take care of the baby without transmitting the virus ( for
example once the child is born healthy, the mother
CHILDREN NEEDS TO BE PREVENTED FROM AIDS
should
not breastfeed
the baby because there are some HIV in her milk and might get the child
infected).
PREVENTING AIDS AMONG SICK PEOPLE
To achieve success in this prevention,
there has to be some kind of conscious philanthropic efforts towards the
sick. For example most of them might not be able to pay for new (sterile)
set of tools (for example injections) to be used for them and as such the
medical personnel might end up using non-sterile tools on such patients
and as such endangering and exposing the patients to AIDS. Although
in countries such as Netherlands, Britain, Australia and some others a
programs know as the syringe and needle exchange schemes has been set up
to reduce such transmission and it has yielded great results. The syringe and needle exchange schemes is a programmes that is aimed in
providing sterile injecting materials and removing contaminated syringes
from circulation in medical houses.
PREVENTING AIDS AMONG TEENAGERS
This is the most susceptible group of people
and as such most campaigns and actions to prevent AIDS are targeted to
this group, however there needs to be co-operation of the group before any
success can be achieve. Like in Nigeria, there are about a thousand Non
governmental organizations that are staging one campaign or the other to
prevent AIDS among the teenagers, and likewise in other countries of the
world, there are TV adverts, radio broadcasts and many other form of
campaigns that has been aimed to achieve, this goal. All these are of
course very expensive and might not be having the impact it is aimed to
have. A better way of trying this campaign is through one on one
or group teachings, to make the youths or adults (that are knowledgeable)
talk to other ones and make them know that it is REAL. Like wise, going to
schools, churches or youth camps and teaching their might also be of great
advantage. When they see and feel the impact of the teaching them they
will be forced to think and (on some cases) comply to the teachings.
PREVENTING AIDS AMONG MARRIED PEOPLE
This group of people usually get AIDS through
sex, so the kind of campaign that should be held for this group should be
in form of teachings and religious sermons, and of course no religion
encourages sex outside the matrimonial home. Using religion as a tool
might be of great help because most people don't joke with their
religions. Also creating adult forums to a community would also help
in this case.
