VIRUS - Other Subtypes

There are other sub types of the HIV-1 virus that have been discovered. One of which is the sub type E discovered in 1981 in Thailand. The major difference between the various HIV subtypes is in their genetic composition and also their mode of transmissions. subtype B is associated with homosexual contact and drug use (usually through blood contact) while subtypes E and C, are being associated with heterosexual transmission.
