Space Travel

  Introduction

Space travel is a very sophisticated type of travel. And by far the most expensive. A single space shuttle can cost trillions! It is amazing just to think about it a space shuttle reentering the atmosphere at mach 27 or more. Or the space stations that orbit the earth like floating cities. But the future of space travel seemed impossible in the past.  

History

Space travel developed greatly after airplanes developed. People thought of flying higher and that can only be achieved in space. Though the soviet union was firsts to launch a satellite into orbit, the U.S.A. soon caught up and eventually became first to go on the moon. the words" one small step for man one giant leap for mankind", rang through the world  as hope for better space technology increased. After the first successful launch to the moon many more missions were launched. Soon the space shuttle was invented. The space shuttle was reusable because it was able to land  just like any other aircraft.

Modern

Space travel is amazing. It is fast, but there still remains a mystery what lies out there in the far corners of space. And it will be quite a while until space travel will become common, right now only a few trained people got to go in space.

The shuttle

Space shuttles are made of more than 600,000 separate pieces. The wings of the space shuttle are coated with special tiles that absorb heat. These tiles are made from a special grass grown in Brazil.
