    As you can see by the list above, there are many causes of deafness. Some are more likely than others.

    If your parents are deaf or have some of those genes, it is very likely that you could get it or that you already have it. Also, if part of the inside of your ear gets damaged, it can cause hearing loss. Some examples of damage, are eardrum punctures, damage from fevers or ear infections. Also a lot of loud noise or loud music could hurt your eardrums as well as something like a very hard fall.
