The silk paintig is a hobby not only for adults but for children too. It is a simple methode to make lively or spectacular motif. It is perfect to make scarf, tie, pillowcase, picture or a nice gift.
The most important is the silk. You can use Crépe de Chine, Chiffon silk, but the easyest to paint is the Pongé 5 or 6.
Adjustable frame. The sides of this frame should be in level. 100 cm x 100 cm size is necessary to create different size silk paints.
Special silk paint. Choose ironable silk paint so it will be easy to fix. Contour paint for painting the outlines.
Different size brushes or cottonballs on a stick.
Paper, pencil, scissor to create paper models.
Tape and thumb tack to bind the silk on the frame.
Tips:
Wash the silk before painting.
Fix the silk on the frame tight.
Let the contour paint dry completly. Approximately 4 hours.
You can paint preassembled silk materials like tie, bow or kerchief.
Directions:
Design the motif.
Design the artwork. Design a layout and colors on a paper. Use the leaves and water color.
Strech the silk on the frame. Start with fix the corners and put thumb tack on the sides every 10 cm.
Cover the table vith wax paper or foil. Place the paper model under the frame.
Use the contour paint to draw the outline of the model. Make sure the lines are connected otherwise the paints will mix. Let the contour paint dry completly.
Paint the motifs with a brush. Don’t paint close to the contour becasue the paint will spread out itself. Let it dry only if the whole motif painted. Don’t paint beside a wet motif because it the colors can mix.
Let it dry completly if finished.
Finally iron it to fix the paint on the silk. Place newspaper on the silk and iron it from the back side.
