4 Stages in the Life Cycle of a Butterfly

In the first stage of the life cycle, the adult butterfly lays an eggEgg Stage

 

The eggs hatch after about one week, and then the second stage begins. The caterpillar is the second stage in the life cycle.  Caterpillar Stage

 

In the third stage, the caterpillar attaches to the leaf and forms a pupa. Pupa Stage

 

Inside the pupa, the metamorphosis happens!  The pupa changes from green to blue and from blue to clear. Inside the pupa the caterpillar changes into a butterfly. The butterfly tears the pupa in half, escapes and is now a beautiful butterfly!
