Alcohol has always been extremely popular with the people of the world and will always remain that way.  Yet with prohibition in effect and the market closed down by the government, the question became how to get it.  Imported whisky was extremely valuable not only because of the alcohol, but because when moonshine was fermented in the barrels, it was given the flavor of whisky.

Another popular kind of illegal liquor was Bathtub Gin, which was exceptionally easy to make.  Coupled by the fact that Juniper juice was available at every drug store in the Continental US and that you could make it at home, this made for the most popular moonshine available.  More types of moonshine were available based on the region of the country you were currently in.  Some types could kill or blind a man, yet people were willing to take the risk.  Some examples of these were Pumpkin Wine in the Mid-West and Yak-Yak Bourbon in Philadelphia.
