Other than crime there were many other effects on people during Prohibition. Most of the effects were harmful to the people in America. There were many people who were harmed financially, physically or emotionally. These effects could have been avoided if Prohibition had not been passed.

  • Immorality
    • With speakeasies, women and drugs, America was becoming a haven for immorality.         

  • Government Expenses
    • The government had to pay for the Bureau of Prohibition and increased stress on the penal system.        
  • Diseases
    • Many people were harmed physically due to diseases and alcohol poisoning during the Noble Experiment.  

  • Loss of Jobs 
    • Many people lost their jobs overnight when Prohibition came into effect.
