Piracy

Piracy involves the illegal reproduction and distribution of software applications, games, movies and audio CDs.

This can be done in a number of ways. Usually pirates buy an original version of a software, movie or game and illegally copy it onto many CDs (compact discs) and sell them illegally on the market. As they are able to provide the same package at a much lower price, legitimate companies lose potential customers.

Alternatively, the software or movie can also be put up on the Internet for free download. This is known as Internet piracy or warez.
