Detoxifying Malware

Under the “Prevention” section, you can find many tips on protecting yourself from malware. However, if you have failed to take the preventive measures, then here are some tips for you to remove the malicious programs that have already invaded your computer.

Removing malware from your computer can be an extremely cumbersome process and it can have dire effects if you do not do it properly. There are a number of ways using which you can eradicate the malware that are infesting your computer.

Step 1

If you are already harboring any form of malware that refuses to budge, please check that your anti-virus software is up-to-date. If not, update the software and then conduct a full system scan. If you are having troubles due to viruses, worms or Trojans, this step should usually cure your infected system. If the problem still persists, please go on to the next step:

Step 2

Since anti-virus software is not doing the job, your system is most likely to be infected with a spyware/adware. Consider downloading reliable anti-spyware software (there are quite a few out there) and then, conduct a full system scan again, this time using the anti-spyware software. If the malware problem still persists, go on to step 3.

Step 3

If you have come to Step 3, this means that your malware problem is quite tricky.

If you know the name of the program, that is causing you the problems, please search for the program in a search engine (for example www.google.com) to know more about how to remove the program from your computer. If you are lucky enough, someone else may have already posted the solution to your problems on the Internet.

If you do not find what you are looking for, or do not know the name of the malicious program, it is time you sought out professional advice. Please be careful while dealing with malicious programs, as deleting them carelessly may cause problems to your computer. Also, please refrain from deleting a program just because the name of the program looks suspicious.
