Made Up Hand Signals
By Maggie

One way to communicate without talking is to make up your own code of hand signals. Your signal could be as simple as tucking your hair behind your ears to mean it's time to leave or scratching your nose to mean you want the person to call you. These things could mean anything you and your contact have already agreed upon.

Let's say a spy puts her hands in her left pocket. This could be a signal to the other spy that they have been found out and are about to be caught.

The thing that's different about using hand signals to send messages is that it doesn't involve the written word.  You probably already know that people send each other messages using nonverbal communication.  Using hand signals is a way to give special meaning to this form of communication.

You can keep your signals as complicated or as simple as you and your contact want.
