Why was Deadwood named Deadwood? The name
Deadwood was named after all the dead trees in the canyon. Deadwood is
also known as the gambling town. Deadwood has many casinos and saloons.
Deadwood also has many hotels. Deadwood has gold caves and inside the
caves you can go panning for gold. Deadwood has many museums that show the
history of Deadwood.
Mount Moriah was the first cemetery in Deadwood. Wild Bill Hickok was buried at Mount Moriah ( he was also killed here.) Before Calamity Jane died she said," Bury me right beside Wild Bill". And that's just what happened. Calamity Jane was the queen of the wild west. She wanted to take after her hero Wild Bill Hickok (James Bulter Hickok.) Calamity Jane's real name was Martha Canary (or Cannary.)
