The Swiss Market
Switzerland imports only one percent of the annually produced 6.6 million
tons, which is nearly 63.000 tons of coffee beans. Only about 8.000 tons of
this amount are processed and then exported. Coffee processed in Switzerland
enjoys a very good reputation. The Swiss population consummates altogether
55.000 tons of coffee per year, which is 5.5 kg per person and year.
Compare: The American drink about 4.2 kg per person and year. The front runner
are the Finn and the Swedish – with an annual consumption of 10 to 12
kg per person.
