Coffee is known in the scientific world by the Latin „Coffea“. It belongs to the biological family Rubiaceae. About 60 to 80 kinds of coffee exist, however only seven are cultivated. The three types listed below are the most important kinds:

  • Coffea arabica - Arabian coffee, mountain coffee
  • Coffea canephora - Robusta coffee, Congo coffee
  • Coffea liberica - Liberia coffee
  • Coffea abeocute
  • Coffea excelsa
  • Coffea mocca
  • Coffea stenophylle
