Coriolis Force

The Coriolis force was discovered in 1835 by Gustave-Gaspard Coriolis, a French scientist. Coriolis was the first to solve the mathematical part of the force. As the air begins to flow from high to low air pressures the earth is spinning under it. This force makes the wind follow a curved path. In the northern hemisphere the force pushes wind to the right. In the southern hemisphere it flows to the left. Where these two hemispheres meet, the equator, no force occurs.
