Make a Toga
Materials:
  • 4-6 yards of cloth (any type is fine, but a light cotton should do, especially in the summer months)
  • Large safety pins
  • Sandals (brown, black)
  • Shorts (Try not to use something that falls down easily)

Directions:
  • Pin one end of the cloth to the waistline of the shorts.
  • Wrap the sheet around your body at the waist once or twice.
  • Pin the cloth to the waistline of the shorts twice.
  • Throw the entire rest of the cloth over your shoulder.
  • Pin a corner of the over-the-shoulder part to your waistline again.
  • Put your sandals on.

Congratulations, you're a Roman citizen now! If you want, you can take a lenth of purple ribbon and wrap it around your shoulders like a Brownie sash to designate yourself as Senatorial class. A wreath around your head, and you can even be Emperor! (Ron-Turner)

Write a Haiku
Haiku poetry is nearly as old as the kimono itself. The Haiku is also an important part of traditional Japanese culture, and although it's not exactly related to the kimono, it's still pretty cool. Traditional Haiku poetry consisted of three lines--five syllables on the first line, seven syllables on the second line, and five syllables on the final line. Traditional Haiku poetry was about nature or the seasons, much like a kimono fabric focuses on these same themes.
the snow is falling
night is quietly fading
and dawn is coming
Obviously, I'm no master of poetry... but it's fun to try, even if they don't turn out all that great. (GigglePoetry)
