Dragonflies

****There are tons of types of dragonflies.

Damselflies

****The smaller, more slender types of dragonflies have several differences from regular dragonflies. Damselflies are more common, and the most seen around ponds, and slow, and or non-moving water. Although being the most common among the dragonfly familiy, they also have a shorter life-time, for the reason of their smaller size. The damselfly may also be a weaker in a flying competition between its larger relatives, the dragonfly. It has its eyes on the sides of the head, while the dragonflies have mosaic-like lenses.

Skimmers

****Skimmers such as the keeled skimmer aren't as different from the dragonfly as the damselfly, but it does have some differences. One difference is the fact that the female's abdomen is yellow-brown, and the male's is blue. The keeled skimmer's abdomen is also lengthwise "keel."

True Dragonflies

****True dragonflies such as the Emperor Dragonfly are the largest species in the dragonfly family. That could be the reason the people who named the family dragonfly, after the largest type of dragonfly in the family.
