1. Forensics - Wikipedia: the free Encyclopedia

A must see website for any forensic fanatic who has a thirst for thorough inside knowledge of forensics. An amazing range of topics, covering a broad spectrum on forensic science and creating one fantastic online resource. What isn't found on the site, will most likely be found in the related links and viewers are able to edit and create articles themselves. Rating - 8.5/10

2. Court TV's Crimelibrary

This is a vast site of real case studies, forensic science techniques and the latest coverage of major crime stories. A recommended section of the site is 'The Criminal Mind', which contains a comprehensive section on forensics and investigation. This capturing site for forensic science lovers, exposes the art of evidence through real examples. Definitely worth a visit, though read with discretion. Rating - 8/10

3. Crime and Clues - the Art and Science of Criminal Investigation

Don't be discouraged by the initial appearance, this site contains a lot of good information. Go straight to the headings on the left, where you'll find a list of topics and choose the one you need. When the data appears, you won't be disappointed. Other than a plain site design, this is a website worth visiting. Rating - 7.5/10

4. Forensic Art

The perfect supplement for someone who has grown tired of reading up on the usual techniques in forensic science. This is a website dedicated to the art of forensics - the sketching of composites from description and sculpturing from bone. The information delves into the finer techniques of the 'artistic' aspects of forensic science and many examples are featured on the site. Rating - 7/10

5. Victoria Police - Forensic Service's Department

This is a website to a forensic science laboratory in Victoria, Australia. Extensive Information is featured on DNA extraction, profiling and use as evidence in court. Allows a good insight into the applications of DNA in forensics. Rating - 7/10

6. Decomposition: What happens to the body after death?

An interesting reference for those keen on forensic entomology, with images of the various insects that come to use in crime investigations. Provides a good graphical supplement to the Forensic Entomology Pages, International - listed below. Rating - 6/10

 

7. Forensic Entomology Pages, International

Although not a very attractive design, the content is an extensive detailing of forensic entomology seldom found in other, more graphical sites, which tend to focus too much on pictures and not information. Seems to be authored by a Norwegian Entomologist, that last updated the pages in 2002, but the site proves to be a good read. Rating - 6/10

8. Forensic Anthropology

One of the sites who kindly donated some images to our own website and has some great visual stimulus for potential forensic anthropologists. It is a site that communicates greatly through diagram explanations and clearly explains/compares the various factors that can be determined from a set of bones. Rating - 6/10

9. Discovery Channel : You're on the Case

This is an educational fan site that stimulates an interest for forensic science through amazing images and a light design. The 'Photo Gallery', would be the recommended section for viewing, with exciting pictures of various fibres. This is more the interactive site - discussion forum and 'ask the expert' are some nice sources of answers to any forensic questions. Rating - 6/10

10. Computer Forensic Research

A nice website dedicated to the newest technologies in crime solving - computer forensics. Gives a detailed insight into how computer analysis can give clues to crimes, including encryption/decryption, steganography and more. For those who are interested in this virtual branch of forensic science, check out the site. Rating - 6/10
