Also known as Heracles. Hercules is the most popular

Greek hero of them all! Hercules is a synonym for super human strength.  He is famous for his 12 labors, or 12 adventures one of them being the rescue of Helen of Troy.  Hercules is the son of Hera and his name literally means “glorious gift of Hera” making him the only person in mythology to be given a name that is compounded with a God/Goddess.   Hercules is a popular Disney movie and TV series starring Kevin Sorbo.  www.la.essortment.com

 

Troy

Is a popular movie starring Brad Pitt.  In mythology Troy was a mythological (not real) country where the Trojan War was fought.  The infamous “Helen of Troy” was kept there.

 

Wonder Woman

A former member of the JSA (Justice Society of America) she is one of the daughters of Hera. Her secret identity is Dianna Prince. Hera is the Goddess and protector of married women. 

 

Xena Warrior Princess

Xena was not in Greek mythology television writers created her. However, on the show she meets various mythological characters such as: Ulysses, Hercules, Ares, and Aphr.

 

Alexander

He was the King of Macedon; conquer of what they knew then as “the world,” he also founded Alexandria.  Alexander is a movie starring popular super stars such as Collin Farrell among others.
