Mass Interaction
Mass interaction can be best described as how consumers can quickly and directly interact with businesses online. Even today, the internet allows users to connect to virtually any commercial facility if the technology is available. From ordering food at Peapod.com to selling stocks via online brokers, the internet has provided a medium for all these things. Because of the massive interaction potential between company and consumer, advertisements have appeared in numerous locations and sites. Dubbed the ‘pop up ad' these digital windows literally pop from your browser in hopes of selling a product, visiting a certain site, or registering for a certain account. In fact, many companies specializing in these online advertisements have already been established and known to gross over tens of thousands in revenues each year. Another result from mass interaction is the increase in spam. Spam or generally referred to as junk mail is a useless internet advertisement sent to your e-mail address. Although spam may not seem harmful, in large quantities, it can make sorting an email inbox very tedious. To fight spam, many hosts have created anti-spam bots and filters to block out spam and log the sender's E-mail address for future prevention. With such massive interaction online, the Internet has developed towards new levels for businesses and users alike.
