In the 1930s, new clothing erupted. The player’s shorts were very short.
Their uniforms were made out of a very shinny material. This was also the time
when numbers first appeared on jerseys. It allowed players to be easily identified.
This affected the future of basketball uniforms.
Clothing started to change even more as time went on. By the 1970s, tube socks now were popular. Even more fashionable was the colored stripe, or band, on the top. Basketball clothing became more colorful. People came up with new ideas every day.
Then, in the 1990s, clothing was even more modern. Jerseys were larger. The player’s shorts were longer, too. Many players wore T-Shirts underneath their jersey, being that the jersey was so big! New ankle socks replaced the old knee socks. Clothing sure has changed a lot in 123 years!
