Many sports uniform now are nothing like they were before. The rough sport of football, had changed its style of uniforms within many years. The 1960’s was great year for bright uniform designs. Teams started putting their team logos on their helmets and jerseys. Purple pants came into style for the Vikings in 1962. Many teams tested different colors and symbols. New patterns and trends was a thought of many team-clothing designers.
Another decade of football fashions was the 1970’s. This decade brought
football out of the shadows of the world. Marvelous uniforms were created to
fit the teams spirit. Football created many traditions and rivalries. The Dolphins
and Steelers were working up to their supreme skills and the decade moved on.
Colored helmets and face masks began a new trend. As the years went by uniforms
gained color and were more creative. Logos on the uniforms were still growing
larger.
As the 80’s wore on uniform modifications started to shape up. The big
puffy style of huge shoulder pads was created in this time frame. As the logos
of the teams grew more creative, the colors of the jerseys were losing their
color. Although the jerseys lost their color, the pants were starting to gain
some.
The 1990’s was a big century of uniform's change. Sweat bands and cleats
were added and changed as teams played through out the years. Teams took creativity
into their own hands and added whatever necessary to make the team bright. The
most used colors were teal, purple, black and navy. Logos slowly started to
grow more known. 2000 was the year of change for football. From stripes to checks
the uniforms changed drastically. Helmets became a new fashion in 2002. Within
the next few years teams wore very dark colored uniforms. The uniforms of football
have changed greatly over the years.
