WHY DO PLANTS NEED SCIENTIFIC NAMES?

You are probably wondering why we wrote those looooooooooong Latin plant names on our pages. Well we listed the scientific names of the plants, because there are a lot of different species around the world and many of their common names are the same. For example, there are 152 species of a Sundews, 10 species of a Pitcher Plants, 79 species of a Butterworts, and 221 species of a Bladderworts. In fact there are more than 600 species in all! So when researching carnivorous plants it can get very confusing if you use just the common names.
