You are probably wondering why we wrote those looooooooooong Latin plant names on our pages. Well we listed the scientific names of the plants, because there are a lot of different species around the world and many of their common names are the same. For example, there are 152 species of a Sundews, 10 species of a Pitcher Plants, 79 species of a Butterworts, and 221 species of a Bladderworts. In fact there are more than 600 species in all! So when researching carnivorous plants it can get very confusing if you use just the common names. |
