Calcification


Now what happens when we try to absorb calcium into the decalcified bone? Will the bone become as rigid as before or will it not? We shall leave it up to you to try it out!

 

Calcification

 

Objective:

  • Find out if a decalcified bone can absorb calcium back

Materials needed:

  • Calcium hydroxide solution
  • Decalcified bone
  • Jar

Procedure:

 

1. Place the bone in calcium hydroxide solution, and cover it with a lid.

 

2. Leave it to soak for 5 days.

 

3. Test the bone for its rigidity. Is it still flexible or is it more rigid?
