On February 27, 2003, the House of Representatives passed The Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2003 (H. R. 234). This bill, nearly identical to the Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2001 (H. R. 2505), differs in that the latter was not acted upon by the Senate.
The recent bill passed by the House makes it a federal crime to either clone a human embryo or to import one into the country. It is also illegal to import a product of a cloned human embryo.
