Late Kingdom

This Period extends from 1070 to 332 B.C. It was a time of decline and chaos in history.

In the Saïte period (730-663 B.C.) there was an attempt to return to the austerity of the Old Kingdom style, but for the simplicity of the earlier forms a coarse brutality was substituted
In 663 B.C. Egypt got destructed by the Assyrians. They burned down temples and killed the holy bull,
In 525 B.C. Egypt got conquered by Persia. Neither the Assyrian nor the subsequent Persian invasions left a mark on Egyptian art, the minor arts, however, continued to flourish.

Ptolemaic Period

This Period extends from 332 B.C to 30 B.C. It began when Alexander the Great entered Egypt, he was welcomed as the son of the god Amun. He founded a new city on the shores of the Mediterranean, Alexandria.

Vast areas of land were reclaimed. They worked on boosting textile, pottery and metal vessels industries besides those of glass and paper. Trade boomed due to Egypt's strategic location and Alexandria became a great trade center.
