Chromosomes
The nucleus in each cell contains many thread-like objects called 'chromosomes'. Chromosomes carry information which controls how the cell works and what the organism will look like. In a human cell, there are 46 chromosomes, arranged in 23 pairs. Different organisms contain different numbers of chromosomes in thier cells. Each chromosome is made up of many genes and each gene contain instructions for a different feature of an organism.
