MSF

Who is Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)?

MSF is an organization founded in 1971 by French doctors. Since the time of its inception, they have provided medical care to all people without discrimination. They believe that all people have the right to medical care. The group of more than 2,500 volunteers is well-known for aiding people who have been affected by man-made and natural disasters, armed conflict, and epidemics and lack health care because of their geographical and social conditions.

Since their first mission in 1972 in which they helped victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua, MSF has come a long way and they now have 18 sections in different countries around the world.

As was stated earlier, MSF is in favor of providing medicine to all people. Therefore, they feel that people in developing countries who cannot afford the highly priced medication produced by large pharmaceutical companies should be afforded the option of producing inexpensive generic drugs or importing inexpensive quality drugs from other developing countries.
