While analyzing the region, it becomes obvious that there are a number of possible solutions that could stem the tide of the virus. The quandary though, is that the majority of these plans has been enacted and has proven to be failures; only a few have thoroughly succeeded.

To follow through with the successful plans in countries region wide would surely prove productive:

  1. Thailand, in 2002, advocated a 100% condom program both locally and nationally and saw a drop in the prevalence of the virus from 3.7% to 2.2%. The substantial decrease achieved through region wide implementation of this plan would amount to the safeguarding of millions more lives.
  2. Continued manufacturing of generic products by both Ranbaxy Laboratories and Cipla, with initiation of localized manufacturing of drugs in highly afflicted areas such as Thailand, Bangladesh and Vietnam would provide for targeted production of drugs to specific national subpopulations.
  3. Increased government efforts to support societal acceptance for those with HIV/AIDS would definitely provide a greater ability to treat the infected. Currently, the problem lies in the fact that infected people are unwilling to confess to their illness or their acts of misconduct in order to shy away from social backlash.
