response

Rather than continue this mapped route to economic failure, the region should collectively endorse either of the following viable solution possibilities:

  1. By importing quality generic products from Cipla or Ranbaxy Laboratories on a large scale, governments could steer apparent crisis courses back onto the path of recovery.
  2. Through a sustained and intensive awareness and education effort, the use of intravenous drugs could be substantially curbed. With the number of users decreased, the number of new HIV/AIDS cases would also be limited, allowing hospitals and governmental and non-governmental (NGO) organizations to focus their labors on those already infected.

patent issues

Currently, the sub continent is depending upon highly developed western pharmaceuticals for HIV combating drugs. These drugs relatively expensive are drawing the governments of countries in the region closer and closer to their threshold.
