When looking at pragmatic solutions for the region, one must focus on the dire situation of the Latin American subcontinent and the Caribbean Islands more than that of the South American countries, as they are generally prospering. These possibilities include:

  1. Development of more laboratories like Far Mangunihos in heavily afflicted countries. These labs should be given the same right to provide universal access to care under the protection of national law.
  2. More sexual awareness in rural communities will definitely aid in cleansing the problem; promoting condom usage could significantly reduce the number of those affected.
  3. Western involvement in the issue is necessary to mitigate the impact. It is the firm belief of many researchers and economists, including those at Harvard's CDI, that the most feasible way to tackle the worldwide AIDS scenario is to help the Latin American crisis in order for them to in turn help us in their generic production of goods.
  4. Governmental emphasis of a supportive, ethical. Legal and human rights environment would greatly lower the stigma associated with the virus and condition and foster a more nurturing atmosphere that could help in the psychological battle affected individuals undergo.
