response

To solve this crisis for all countries involved, many opportunities, upon analysis, present themselves.

  • GlaxoSmithKline, the second largest pharmaceutical in the world is planning on providing the 3TC ARV drug that is currently imported by the Chinese government and sold at a ludicrous market price to the China at a significantly lowered cost. If the administration can get the legalities quickly finalized, GSK can finally follow through with their agenda. This would in turn result in government dispersal of premier ARV drugs to hospitals.
  • Continue pressuring companies as Merck, Sharp and Dohme to cut prices on their crixivan and otocrin drugs.
  • If China and Japan, the region's two largest countries can coerce companies to initiate localized production like GSK has done, then mass production of drugs would ensue.
