1.2: Writing decimal ratios
Converting a ratio to a decimal makes it easier to work with ratios, especially when using them in calculations. If your calculator does not have a fraction function then decimal ratio can be used. To convert a ratio to a decimal you divide the left number by the right number. For example 17:16 would be 1.06 (rounded to two decimal places because 17 / 16 = 1.0625 and then if this is rounded to two decimal place it becomes 1.06)
Remember that you can round off, though if you're in a test situation and it states clearly that you must write the full length of the decimal (highly unlikely) you must state it.
