Bioethics-Life ExtensionThe topic of aging is being studied with great interest. Everyone wants to add years to their life. There are methods of increasing lifespan without genetic manipulation available. The question arises whether to use the knowledge available on genes to increase our lifespan. This case is singularly strange because there are few disadvantages. DetailsThe lifespan of humans has slowly been increasing due to better sanitation and understanding of health. The change in lifespan here, however, would most likely be drastic. Putting the issue of availability aside, we ask if it is acceptable to willingly change our lifespan. Obviously, our system of society would change; perhaps revert back to older days when there were large families of many generations. Some feel uncomfortable with the idea of us willingly choosing to live longer rather than it being a result of improvements in lifestyle.
