Bioethics-DrugsDrugs have been implemented fairly recently in terms of human history. We are making astonishing advances in their complexity and effectiveness. Yet there are debates as to what kind of drugs should be developed. Most controversial are drugs that alter mood or affect the human mind. Drugs like Ritalin and various antidepressants, painkillers alter the activity of the brain. While these aren’t necessarily considered biotechnology by most of the public, the President’s Council on Bioethics does. DetailsPeople argue that emotions are what make us human. Treatment for disorders like ADD and depression are already litigious. Where do you make the distinction? These drugs are often abused, along with a long list of painkillers.
