Date of Birth	Born in Montclair, New Jersey on January 20, 1930.
Childhood / Family	He has two sons, one daughter, and is married to the former Lois Driggs Cannon of Phoenix.
Education	Graduated from Montclair High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He also has honorary degrees from six colleges and universities. Doctorate in Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Manned Space Rendezvous
Military Service / Civilian	USAF Fighter Pilot in the Korean Conflict
Contribution to Space Travel	Served as a lunar module pilot for Apollo 11, the first man made lunar landing mission. One of the first two humans to walk on the moon. Developed the Manned Space Rendezvous techniques used on all NASA missions. First astronaut to be fitted in scuba gear to train for space weightlessness.
Space Missions	He was launched into space in the Gemini 12 Space Craft. He also served as a lunar module pilot for Apollo 11.

Interesting Fact(s)	Founded the rocket design company, Starcraft Boosters, Inc., and the ShareSpace Foundation, a nonprofit organization, promoting human space travel. Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Nicknamed Dr. Rendezvous
