Fertilizer is a substance applied to soil to enhance its ability to produce plentiful, healthy plants . Minerals in fertilizer improve quality of the soil

Plants need fertilizer to grow bigger and better.The reson fertilizer is important is because it has minerals and chemicals that plants cannot get enough just from the soil. Plants need a lots of things to grow. These minerals are not always in soil. Even when they are there may not be enough of it for good growth.

Also, when crops are planted year after year the minerals from the soil are depleted.

There are three minerals that fertilizers provide. These three minerals are sometimes called plant macronutrients. In nature these elements often come from decaying animals and plants.

Potassium	Potassium is a must for plant growth.Potassium helps sugar movement through plants, It also helps with resistance to stresses such as drought and disease.
Nitrogen	Some plants can get nitrogen from the atmosphere or from the soil in a process known as "fixation,"In fixations plants turns nitrogen into carbohydrates, amino acids, and proteins that are needed for its growth.
Phosphorus	Without phosphate cells cannot function. Phosphate is in the molecules that gives cell energy. It is also part of the DNA, which makes genetic material.
