Spacesuits Back in the late 50's, the pressure suit for project Mercury was designed and developed as a negotiation between the requirements for flexibility and adaptability. It wasn't easy learning movement within aluminum-coated nylon and rubber garments however, the hazards of space made the space suit not only essential but a matter of survival. To feed man's curiosity about the universe around him, he must work and explore space, for which he needs to carry his environment with him. This is essentially the function, which the space suit has been designed to accomplish. Space is an extremely hostile place.
