Coronagraphs operating at visible wavelengths- a coronagraph can be understood as an instrument that blocks the direct and diffracted light of a bright object, enabling vision of nearby objects and structures that are faint. This instrument has been used to study the corona of the sun. Interferometers operating at mid-infrared wavelengths- in this technique mirrors separated wide apart work as a single telescope.
