Flooding in Mississippi

1937: This flood killed more than 135 people and left about a million people homeless.

1943: The flood made more than 12 million acres (5 million hectares) of farmland were covered by water, and more than 50,000 people had to leave their homes.

1993: The flood damaged about $12 billion worth of property and forced about 74,000 people moved out from their homes.
