England How do dragons act in this culture? They are like enemies What do they look like? They look like a big lizard with the devil's tail, bird like wings, and breath fire. (plus with bunny like ears.)The Story of Beowulf This is the last part part of the epic Beowulf. After a part of the dragon's treasure was stolen he got angry and attacked the country of Geats where Beowulf is the king. Beowulf was now old but he still set out to fight the dragon. His sword could not even pierce the scale of the dragon. Only one person was brave enough to come and help Beowulf whose name was Wiglaf. The dragon was killed by the combined strength of these two brave men but Beowulf was mortally injured and dies shortly after. Comments: This dragon was greedy and fierce. There fire of his breath was very deadly. St. George and the Dragon There are many stories about St. George and his fight with a dragon. It is said that St. George had three birth marks on his body. One of it was a dragon mark on his chest which was considered as an omen. As St. George got older he put more effort to learn the art of fighting. After many fights against the Saracens of Syria he went to Libya. A dragon used to live there near the town of Sylene. This dragon wanted the sacrifice of a virgin everyday. On the day St. George arrived there it was the turn of the King's daughter Sabra to be sacrificed. He accompanied the princess to the dragon's home. St.George captured the huge dragon and attached its head to Sabra's girdle. Then he brought back the princess and the dragon alive to the town where all the people took their revenge on the dragon. St. George became the true knight of princess Sabra. |
