Ø What are dragons like in Australia?
The are mean and eat people. They usually live in water. Some are actually gods like the Rainbow Serpent is a god.
Ø What do they look like?
The dragon had a stream-lined shape a long gated neck, semi-erect posture, and a forked tongue which helped them fire breath. The largest dragon was the Perentie or the Varanus Giganteus, which can be up to 2 meters. The smallest dragon Pygmy or the Varanus Brebicauda.
Ø The story of Eingana
Eingana was also called maker of all water, land, animals, and kangaroos. She was a huge reptilian creature revered as a goddess and giver of life. She came out to give birth on occasion. She was also the death goddess. She holds a sinew of life for each creature, and if she ever lets go, the life stops. It was said if she ever dies then so would all things that existed.
Ø Is there a real animal that might explain why these people believed in dragons?
They got it from Genus Varanus lizard.
