Ice Fall Avalanches

When a glacier comes to a steep drop huge chunks of ice split off as the glacier slowly flows downhill under the force of gravity. The occurrence of this avalanche has absolutely nothing to do with the time of day, the weather or the temperature. The best way to stay out of the way of these avalanches is to avoid driving under ice cliffs and ice falls. If you have to go under an ice fall or a ice cliff, try to get through as quickly as possible.
