The prevalence of TB bacillus carriers
TB is the most common infection in the world.
Almost one third of the world's population is infected with TB. Yes,
that's right. One
third of the world's population is infected with TB. Given
such a prevalence of the TB bacillus in the world, our bodies harbour
these slow ticking time bombs within us.
Once inhaled, the hardy TB bacillus can lie dormant in the body
for decades. Normally, the body's immune system will keep these TB
bacilli in check. However, once the body's immune system is weakened,
the TB bacillus will spring into action and will attempt to infect
the carrier.
This is not an uncommon form of infection in the more developed
countries. The body's immune system may be weakened by stress and
infections by other diseases. For this reason YOU should be concerned
and be complacent.
