Transmission & Infection
Tuberculosis is spread
to people when the person breathes in air that has TB germs in it.
This usually occurs through close contact with someone infected with
TB germs.
TB is contagious disease. The person will get infected if he/she
inhales the TB germs an infected person 'coughed' up.
After Tb germs enter the body, in most cases, body defenses control
the germs by building a wall around them.
The body's response to active TB infection produces inflammation that eventually
damages the lungs.
