Magma-Hot liquid rock, that would be found in the center of the earth.

Lava-Magma that has reached the earth's surface. It cools as it's exposed to the air.

Volcano-A mountain made up of cooled lava. The volcano is built up by the repeated eruptions. If the volcano is bigger, it has erupted more often.

Crater-A steep hole at the volcano's top that often contains a small pool of lava.

Vent-The opening in the top of the volcano that lets the magma flow out on the surface of the earth.

Volcanologists-These scientists monitor the volcanoes & try to warn people when the volcano is about to erupt so no one gets hurt. They also try to learn more about volcanoes, how they work, and how the earth works.

Cinder Cones-Small volcano mountains that are steep sided. They blow out cinders, and rock parts in the air when they erupt.

Volcanic Bombs-Pieces of debris from a volcano eruption , that is bigger than 5 millimeters.

Volcanic Dust-Very small (fine) pieces of debris, up to .25 millimeters across, which is flung up into the air during the eruption.

Volcanic Ash-Fairly larger volcanic debris, up to 5 millimeters across, which is flung up into the air with the other debris during the eruption.

Cinders-Smaller pieces of debris, but too small to be referred to, as a "bomb."
